Welcome to Eastern Crete and to one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Voulisma Beach, or Golden Beach as some call it, is “material” for Crete’s (and even Greece’s) advertising campaigns.
Voulisma Beach is one of the three beaches of Istron Village, which is located 12 km east of Agios Nikolaos City and 22 km north of Ierapetra City. The village as well as the surrounding area preserves its old character (thankfully), mainly due to the archaeological restrictions that prevented mass growth. It continues to be a pole of attraction though. The turquoise waters and the white sand of Voulisma Beach create exotic scenery. Further, it is very well organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas, plus a few options for food and drinks. On the downside, the beach is so famous that it is almost always full of people. Still, it is large enough not to make you feel squeezed. The wind is another drawback (as with most beaches in South Crete). If you happen to find yourself at the beach in the midst of blowing winds, retreat to the smaller beach in the west part of the bay, which is very well protected and less organized. Close your day at one of the taverns in Istron Village and you will not regret it. Also, make sure that you have a camera with you. These moments in life are not to be forgotten. We can accommodate your holiday stay in Crete while visiting Voulisma beach at our stylish villas located nearby. [wpgmza id="50"]
