Admittedly the most beautiful Cretan beaches lay on the southern side of the island. Still, right in the middle of the northern coast there is this little leeward bay called Bali that is definitely worth the while. So, if you happen to travel on the northern national road (it is just 1 km from the main road), try to make a stop or even more devote a whole day in Bali.
Bali used to be a small fishing village. Today, it features many hotels, cafés, taverns and shops. The beach of Bali is actually… four, as many as the small bays that form the larger bay of Bali. The waters are very clear, safe for children and organized, providing a variety of water sports, sun beds and many other options. Also do not forget to make a stop at Atali Abbey, which is devoted to Agios Ioannis and at the church of Panagia Charakiani.
