Description

Far into the Cretan inland, at the foot of Mount Idi, the tallest mountain in Crete and birthplace of Zeus according to the Greek Mythology, two twin villas are standing proudly, waiting to be discovered.

Like a natural extension of the mountain itself the two villas are made of stone. Each of them has wooden beamed ceilings and tasteful furnishings and features a spacious living area with a fireplace, a dining area, a fully fitted kitchen, 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with 2 twin beds, all with individual balconies) and a bathroom. And that’s just the ground floor. On the second floor, you will find 2 more bedrooms (again one with a double bed and one with 2 twin beds, all with individual balconies) and two more bathrooms.

On the outside, within the 8 acres of fenced private land, you will find an 85 sq. m. swimming pool.

The guests of these villas can collect fresh fruits and vegetables from the complex’s garden and prepare their own meals with Cretan olive oil which will be provided upon arrival, along with a welcome pack of raki, wine, fresh fruits an some Cretan herbs.

The nearest shops and taverns are located in the neighboring villages of Viran Episkopi (2 km) and Skouloufia (3 km).

The location is suitable for all kinds of activities like hiking, bicycle riding, walking or exploring the countryside. On the property itself, you will find the ruin of the former Church of St. John.

Pikris is a tiny village right above Rethymno Bay. It nestles within the wild and romantic valley that lines with the Pikris Creek. Stavromenos beach is 6 km away from the villas, while the scenic City of Rethymno is 17 km away. Free on-site parking is possible.

Within 1.5 km you will also find Arkadi Monatsry, UNESCO’s European Freedom Monument and symbol of Cretan bravery.

We had a great time in this beuatyfull and spacious villa. It was quite far from “things to do” but we had a good car to get around. The owners were very nice and helpfull with anything we needed. We are a family with a love for cooking, but the kitchen itself was to small for so many people. It would have been nice to have a big kitchen in the spacious room downstairs.
